A Place to Think… A Place to Create … A Place to Act…

Creating space for teams to think clearly, collaborate deeply, and move forward together.

Facilitation, for me, is about more than running a meeting — it’s about creating the right conditions for high-quality thinking, real conversations, and genuine collaboration. I’ve been facilitating teams and leadership groups across the public and private sectors for over 20 years, and I still love it.

I bring curiosity, clarity and calm — and I work with you to design the kind of space where people feel included, heard, and able to do their best thinking. Whether you’re shaping strategy, tackling tough issues, or trying to build alignment, I help your team focus on what really matters and move forward with confidence.

I’m trained in the Thinking Environment approach, which is grounded in over 30 years of research into what helps people think clearly and independently. I’m also an experienced coach, and I bring that into the way I facilitate — combining listening, insight, and just the right level of challenge.

In the last 20 years I’ve facilitated thousands of sessions — from small leadership teams to large-scale away days and conferences — and I never tire of watching what happens when a team comes together to do its best thinking.

How I Work

I always start by understanding what you need from the session — not just the agenda items, but the deeper outcomes you’re hoping for. I’ll work with you and your team to co-create an agenda that’s built around the questions that really need attention.

My facilitation style draws from my background in executive coaching, so I bring a lot of listening, observation and curiosity. I ask searching questions, make space for debate and disagreement, and use humour and lightness to keep energy in the room. I hold the space gently but with focus, always aiming for a session that feels safe, productive and stretching in the best possible way.

Some Tools I Use

Depending on the context, I might draw on:

  • The Thinking Environment — a powerful, research-based approach to raising the quality of thinking in groups

  • My own Stone Stack visual approach to creative thinking

  • MBTI (Step I & II)

  • Strengthscope (a strengths-based insight tool)

  • Simon Sinek’s Start With Why

No two sessions are the same — I tailor every approach to your team and what you’re working through.

Recent Work Includes:

  • A range of ‘Thinking sessions’ over a year to support an ICB programme for Neighbourhood Development in Greenwich
  • Whole team event on Managing Change for the Elective Care Directorate.
  • Board Dynamics Programme for Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust

What people say…

“I just wanted to say again what a great job I thought you did with the team last week and in the run up to the event. Thank you for your expertise, wisdom, unflappability (tested to the extreme!), warmth and great skill in making the event the success that I thought it was. It was superb to work with you and we are all now really buzzing following the event. I think it’s testament to both the type of team that I’m lucky enough to be part of and also to your style that we managed to have the kind of positive day that it was despite the looming organisational change”
